Hamburg Süd has revealed that it is resuming its weekly direct service from Peru’s Port of Paita to Philadelphia in the US, to coincide with the forthcoming mango and grape season in South America.

With a transit time of eleven days, the service provides exporters in Peru and US importers a premium product designed specifically with these sensitive cargos in mind.

“At Hamburg Süd, being customer-oriented also entails reacting flexibly to the demands of our customers,' explained Frank Smet, CCO of the shipping group. 'This includes making our transport capacities available to them when they are particularly needed. After the successful launch last year, we have now resumed our seasonal service for mangoes and grapes.”

With the fast transit time and a fleet of state-of-the-art reefer equipment, Hamburg Süd offers a 'tailor-made best-in-class product that caters to the strong demand for these fruits in the US market', the group noted.

Connections to the US Gulf Coast and other ports along the US East Coast, such as Houston, Port Everglades and New York, as well as to Europe, are also available through the Hamburg Süd network via the transshipment hub in Cartagena.
