Terrloire

Last week, French pre-packed potato and vegetable specialist Terr’loire was placed into receivership following financial difficulties.

The bankruptcy court of Orléans has given the company a period of six months to address the situation and named an administrator.

Terr’loire’s financial problems were exacerbated in May 2008 when the potato plants that it was selling became infected with a bacteria, forcing the company to destroy 800 tonnes of the plants and leading to an overall loss of €2.9m.

However, a spokesperson from the company’s sales department maintained that it was still business as usual at Terr’loire. “We are continuing to produce and to sell, and our customers remain loyal to us,” the spokesperson said.
