Abu Dhabi food and beverages group Agthia Group PJSC has signed a license agreement with Chiquita Brands for the exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute a range of natural fruit juice products in the Middle East, according to AMEinfo.com.

The range, which will carry the Chiquita brand name, will be distributed in the United Arab Emirates, the GCC, Levant and Egypt.

H.E. Rashed Mubarak Al Hajeri, chairman of the Agthia Board, said that the partnership fitted in with the company's aim to become the 'UAE's leading food and beverage company'.

Brian Kocher, president of Chiquita Europe and the Middle East, added that the move would help the company to expand its geographic presence in the GCC.

'We believe Agthia has a well-established distribution network in the UAE, world-class manufacturing capabilities and a professional management team,' he said. 'We are delighted to partner with Agthia to bring Chiquita juice range to the region.'

Manufacturing and distribution of the range is scheduled to begin in late 2011.
