Residues of fenpropathrin and pyridaben were found on samples imported into Germany from the Arava region of Israel, but they did not pose an unacceptable risk to consumers.

However, residues in excess of the maximum residue limit of methamidophos found on Turkish samples imported into Germany were deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to consumers.

All remaining stocks have been withdrawn from sale and importers, wholesalers, the German trade association and the German public informed. The German authorities also stated that more samples will be tested.

The Fresh Produce Consortium clarified that the alert on the Israeli sample did not relate to, or have any connection with, Arava Export Growers Ltd. It said in a statement that importers should check their suppliers' usage of all pesticides to ensure conformity with EU regulations.
