HDRA is hosting a “conversion to organic field vegetable production” at Robert Thomas Farms, Blidworth, Notts on September 9.

Chris Firth will talk about the latest results from the DEFRA-funded organic market study and there will be an opportunity to discuss the development of the market and its future potential.

Robert Thomas Farms has approximately 1450 hectares of arable and field vegetable crops on light sandy soil. By September 2003 they will have converted 200ha to organic production.

The event will also provide the opportunity to view the composting and to visit the organic variety trials as well as touring the vegetable cropping, which includes inter-cropping of grass/clover and beans and courgettes.
