Lona Trading, one of the largest independent South African owned fruit exporters, has chosen to focus completely on citrus as its core business in the future.

Citrus already comprises more than 75 per cent of the Lona business. The company will continue to dispose of non-core assets and businesses not related to the Lona operation, which include interestes in grapes, apples, onions and wine.

A statement said that in 2004 this focus will "further grow the core business and imporve the level of service to citrus growers and customers worldwide".
