Corrugated board specialist Smurfit Kappa has launched its new XXXL Packaging in response to an increasing market demand for large format XXXL packaging by the UK food and retail industries. Its format provides hygiene, supply chain, branding and environmental benefits.

XXXL packaging enables suppliers to create larger pack sizes for easier and cheaper transit and storage of products. It also provides retailers with branded bulk boxes for end of aisle and store entrance promotions, which encourage impulse and bulk purchases with easy replenishment.

And according to a Smurfit Kappa spokeswoman, it is already being used for root vegetables such as swede and carrot in a palletainer format.

The XXXL corrugated packaging is both recycled and fully recyclable and cuts packaging unit costs, also reducing packaging weight and therefore leading to reduced transportation costs.
