The proposed closure of an Aunt Bessie’s potato production factory will result in 200 job losses after production licence holder Heinz failed to renew its contract, the BBC has reported.

According to the news outlet, workers at Heinz's Westwick site in North Walsham were told at lunchtime.

Owner of the Aunt Bessie’s brand, the William Jackson Food Group, was not available for comment at the time of writing.

The BBC said the closure proposal is subject to a 45-day consultation process, and was made 'after thoroughly exploring extensive alternatives and options'.
