Trio charged in relation to labour exploitation case

Three people involved in the vegetable and meat processing labour market have been charged as part of a joint operation between Norfolk Police, Suffolk Police and the Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA).

Although arrests were made in April of last year by officers investigating people trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation,
three of those involved in the case were charged yesterday (4 March) afternoon.

Konstantin Sasmurin, 32, and Linus Ratautas, 29, both of Yarmouth Road, Caister, were each charged with acting as a gangmaster without a licence, holding a person in slavery or servitude or requiring a person to perform forced/compulsory labour, trafficking people for exploitation, and money laundering.

Evelina Perekriostovai, 22, and also of Yarmouth Road, Caister, was charged with money laundering.

All three were bailed to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court on 1 April 2015.

Police had also arrested a 30-year-old man from Norwich, and a 37-year-old woman from Ipswich on suspicion of trafficking and supplying unlicensed workers, but both will face no further police action.
