Morrisons has acquired seven stores from closing camera chain Jessops as part of its convenience drive this year.

The sites - four in London, one in Scotland and two in other parts of England - will be turned into M Local stores.

“Morrisons is aiming to build its convenience business by adding at least another 50 stores this year,” said a spokesperson.

The Bradford-based retailer will be hoping the stores improve trade after like-for-like sales dipped 2.5 per cent for the six weeks to 30 December.
