Fruit Focus success for Buddy strawberry

Hargreaves Plants’ Buddy strawberry variety was a hit at Fruit Focus with samples going down well with customers.

The everbearing variety was bred at East Malling Research, the venue for this year’s Fruit Focus, and during the event over 400 pots were handed out to visitors and exhibitors.

Buddy, renowned for its sweet flavour, went down “excellently with consumers and growers,” according to a Hargreaves Plants’ representative.

Hargreaves Plants is currently scaling up its production of Buddy plants to take into account the increased demand for planting stock.
