This week’s GS Intelligence report tracks GCC wholesale floor prices across core fruit categories, ongoing clearance bottlenecks at Jeddah Port, and an escalating warehouse crisis as unresponsive carriers leave damaged fruit sitting in cold stores.
Powered by Global Star Group, GS Intelligence delivers weekly market intelligence for growers, exporters, logistics networks, and fresh produce buyers.
Key market highlights
Wholesale trading across the Gulf remained largely stable in Week 38, with only minor, routine price adjustments across staple lines. Beyond pricing, the most urgent challenge is managing the physical bottleneck inside warehouses as long-transit shipments pile up while waiting for unresponsive carriers to appoint surveyors.

Logistics and supply chain reality
Port clearance: Customs clearance bottlenecks at Jeddah Port and localised reefer truck shortages continue to extend container dwell times.
The carrier delayed response: Long-transit arrivals are yielding severe quality and condition issues. When consignees log claims and request carrier surveys, shipping lines are responding with severe delays or complete silence. Because containers cannot be cleared for disposal without official line responses, damaged shipments are piling up in commercial stores—causing acute cold-storage space shortages, blocking room for fresh arrivals, and creating sanitation risks inside warehouses.
