Sector puts in its best performance in two decades, reflecting good crop and strong recovery in international demand

Argentine exports of fresh lemons jumped 76 per cent in volume and 129 per cent in value in the first four months of 2026 compared to the year-earlier period. Figures from the Ministry of Agriculture show a total of US$26mn of lemons were shipped between January and April, up from US$11.3mn in the same period of 2025.
According to Infobae, this was the sector’s best performance in two decades. It said the improvement was due to a strong harvest, allowing for a more robust supply to European and US markets during periods of high demand.
Exports of citrus and citrus derivatives were up 36 per cent between January and April, with a total of 50,085 tonnes worth US$108mn exported in that period.
The main export destinations were the US, Ireland, Netherlands, Russia, and Italy. However, the largest percentage increases seen in the first four months of this year recorded in emerging and high-growth markets, such as China, which increased its purchases by 921 per cent, Spain (+729 per cent), France (+640 per cent), Japan (+217 per cent), and Greece (+176 per cent).
