The Malines auctions in Belgium have started selling an extensive range of “forgotten vegetables” under the Bel'Orta label.

Aspokesperson said: “Bel'Orta has already secured itself a place in the niche market for forgotten vegetables this year, and we want to carry onsupporting the label and expand it still further. Growing forgotten vegetables is definitely catching on, especially among young growers.”

The lines that are enjoying most success are glasshouse runner beans, parsnips, beetroot and even black salsify.

“Thevegetables are also getting a lot of coverage in the Flemish media, andconsumers are clearly coming on board,” the spokesperson said.
