Dole Europe and Dole Ocean Cargo Express have announced that the transportation of fresh produce by Dole Ocean Liner in the Mediterranean will be discontinued following the termination of its container service between Ecuador and southern Europe.
The five vessels which make up the Dole Ocean Liner service, which calls at the ports of Valencia, Sagunto, Livorno, Aegion, San Juan and Guayaquil, have been in operation since 1994.
The service is due to be terminated at the end of 2011, with Dole planning to announce new logistics arrangements for its southern European customers in the near future.
The company insisted it would continue to supply its clients in Italy, Greece and other Mediterranean countries with the same range of high-quality, Dole-branded products in 2012 and beyond.
