Dubai-based Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates Airline, has taken delivery of its third Boeing 777 Freighter, according to the company.
The large freighter, the most technologically advanced one available, is set to be deployed to Brazil to serve São Paulo three times a week.
“Even in an uncertain global economy, our commitment to facilitating international trade remains strong,” said Tim Clark, president of Emirates Airline.“Boeing’s collaborative spirit inspires us to work together to develop creative solutions to the challenges the cargo industry faces every day.”
According to the company, Emirates worked closely with Boeing to create a wide main deck cargo door to make it easier to handle oversized shipments.
Marty Bentrott of Boeing Commercial Airplanes commented: “We enjoy working with Emirates because their team is as committed to meeting customers’ logistical needs as we are, while ensuring the most economical and environmentally-friendly operation.”
The new freigher boasts a long-range flying capacity of over 17 hours without refueling and a cargo capacity of 103 tonnes, whilst consuming almost 18 per cent less fuel than today's freighters, Emirates SkyCargo said.
