Further speakers have been added to the programme for the upcoming Eurofruit Congress Southern Hemisphere, the annual conference and exhibition event for the region's fresh produce industry, which will be held at the Conrad Hotel in Uruguay's popular tourist resort of Punta del Este on 1-3 December.

Maersk Line (Uruguay) will give invaluable advice on the importance of efficient logistics and how to manage challenges in the cool chain, while Gerrit van der Merwe, chairman of the Western Cape Citrus Producers' Forum in South Africa, will speak about post-harvest innovation as a way of lowering costs in the supply chain and staying competitive.

Stuart Evans, DNE World Fruit Sales (US citrus importer), will give insights into the US market by sharing tips on how Southern Hemisphere suppliers can meet thecomplex market requirements for clean, green and safe food.

Stuart willbe joined by Daniela Ramírez from carboNZero (New Zealand), who will talk about the carbon debate in terms of its significance on the Northern Hemisphere market and how suppliers in the Southern Hemisphere can satisfy the growing demand to reduce their carbon footprint and/or become carbon neutral.

Meanwhile, Shelly Fuller, project manager of the Confronting Climate Change - South African Fruit and Wine Industry Initiative, will discuss climate, energy efficiency and carbon footprinting with a focus on improving efficiency, reducing costs and sharpening competitiveness.

And Dmitry Gerasimov, import manager at the JFC Group, the leading importer of fresh produce in Russia, will speak in Session 6 about the opportunities for Southern Hemisphere suppliers on the Russian import market as a growing alternative export destination.
