The former Bayer Crop Science R&D head brings more than 30 years of experience in plant breeding and biotechnology to support the blueberry specialist’s innovation strategy and global growth plans

Fall Creek Farm & Nursery has announced the appointment of Robert Reiter to its board of directors.
Most recently the head of research and development for Bayer Crop Science, Reiter has more than three decades of global experience in plant breeding, biotechnology, and the delivery of applied agricultural innovation at scale.
“It’s a privilege to welcome Bob to our board,” said Kevin Murphy, executive chair of Fall Creek’s board of directors.
“As Fall Creek continues to expand its global footprint, the depth of Bob’s scientific leadership and his record of delivering innovation to growers worldwide will help guide our long-term strategy.
”His appointment reflects our commitment to strengthening governance and bringing world-class expertise to the table,” Murphy noted.
Cort Brazelton, board member, engaged shareholder, and strategic advisor of Fall Creek, said the group is at an ”exciting moment” in its evolution.
“As a multi-generational family company, Fall Creek is committed to serving the success and well-being of the entire blueberry industry over the long term,” he outlined.
”Bob’s experience, knowledge, and passion will help us strengthen our innovation engine and reinforce our continued investments in science, genetics, the success of growers, and the growth of the blueberry category on the road to becoming the world’s favourite fruit.”
As an independent director, Fall Creek said Reiter will support the company’s focus on accelerating applied innovation for growers, enhancing genetic pipelines, and strengthening the company’s ability to meet global market expectations for quality, consistency, and reliability.
“I’m honoured to join the Fall Creek board and excited to work alongside leaders who are deeply committed to advancing blueberry genetics and the success of growers worldwide,” said Reiter.
“The company’s strong mission, global perspective, and focus on innovation align closely with my own experiences in agricultural research and development.”
Fall Creek CEO Marc de Beer emphasised the value Reiter brings to growers and partners.
“Bob has spent his career translating science into real-world solutions for farmers,” said de Beer. “His insights will help us accelerate variety development, strengthen supply reliability, and continue delivering value to growers and retailers across markets.”
