The government of Mexico has lifted tariffs on fresh produce imports from the US with immediate effect.
The move, which was widely expected, comes in response to the US Department of Transportation granting access to US roads to a Mexican haulier for the first time.
The tariffs were introduced in 2009 and this year stood at 10 per cent on US apples, cherries, grapes, oranges and onions.
