UK apple grower Alan Firman has been awarded first prize in a major British topfruit contest. The firm, which markets its produce through Norman Collett, took the prize at the Topfruit Storage Trial Awards for the quality of its stored Cox apples. Norman Collett's technical director, Nigel Jenner, said the award came in spite of a 'difficult' 2007.
