US trade body United Fresh Produce Association has unveiled its latest annual research report into consumer trends, entitled 'Issues Scan 2009'.

The study, which was formulated alongside Harrison Interactive, was introduced at the United Fresh Expo and Convention in Las Vegas on 23 April.

In a bid to better understand consumption patterns, the United Fresh study looks at consumer perception of current events and that perception's weight on subsequent purchasing decisions.

'Given the widespread success of the inaugural edition in 2008, we are extremely excited to unveil the 2009 edition,' said United Fresh president and chief executive officer Tom Stenzel. 'Knowing why and how a consumer elects to purchase one commodity over another, or chooses to stay loyal to one product or company, equips our members and indeed the entire industry with a great asset.'

The report can be downloaded here, at a cost of US$125 for United Fresh members and US$195 for non-members.
