He joins trade body alongside existing role as chair of British Tomatoes at a time of high pressure for salad veg and protected horticulture sectors
Industry advocate Simon Conway has been named as the new chair of the Cucumber and Pepper Growers’ Association (CPGA), effective from 1 June.

Conway, who already serves as chair of British Tomatoes and holds a part-time role as CEO of Horticulture Crop Protection, is a well-known voice for the industry, both in and outside of the sector.
In recent months, he has helped raise awareness about the impact of the Middle East conflict on salad veg producers, from fertiliser to gas prices, including an interview on Radio 4’s current affairs programme Today.
”This is an exciting and constructive step for the association as we continue to navigate sector pressures, strengthen our voice, and support growers with clarity and consistency,” the CPGA said.
”Simon will be working closely with the CPGA Committee and membership, and we’ll share more about his focus areas soon.”
The body thanked outgoing chair Joe Shepherdson for his work over the past year.
