Grape and berry medley has been recalled by retailer after salmonella was detected during testing with consumers urged not to eat

Tesco is recalling a mixed grape and berry prepped fruit pot after it was found to be contaminated by salmonella.
The bacteria, which causes a serious infection in some people, was detected in the Tesco Grape & Medley pot, 230g, with products with use by dates of 16 and 17 February included within the recall.
It has since been removed from sale and recalled “as a precaution”. ”Tesco is recalling the specific date codes of Tesco Grape & Berry Medley 230G due to the detection of salmonella during testing, which may make the product unsafe to eat,” the retailer said in a statement.
Consumers who have bought the product should not eat it, but instead return it to store for a full refund, Tesco said.
“No other products are affected by this recall,” the statement said.
Symptoms caused by Salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA). Anyone experiencing these symptoms should stay away from work, school or nursery until symptoms stop, or for at least 48 hours, the FSA said.
