Australian Bananas partners with gyms across the country to provide a free workout for purchasing a banana
Australian Bananas’ Banana Gym Pass campaign has returned for 2025, giving consumers the chance to use a banana for a free workout on National Banana Day on 8 October.
The initiative was first launched in 2024 to great success, with the campaign named a finalist in the 2025 Seeka Marketer of the Year Award. This year, it will return bigger and better with more than twice as many gyms on board nationwide.
From boutique studios to large gym chains including Virgin Active, Fitness First and Anytime Fitness - Australian consumers can unlock a free workout by purchasing a banana from any local supermarket or grocer, and presenting it at over 900 participating gyms across the country.
This year also sees Australian Bananas team up with fitness guru and actor, Tim Robards, to highlight the importance of staying active.
“Health and fitness have always been a huge part of my life - from my early days as a chiropractor, through to my work in fitness, TV and wellness, to now balancing training with being a dad. Bananas have always been one of my go-to snacks,” said Robards.
“They’re natural, easy to grab, and full of the energy you need for a great workout, to chase after the kids, or just keep on top of a busy day. National Banana Day is a great reminder that looking after your body and keeping it fuelled doesn’t have to be complicated.”
Bananas grower, Miki Buchanan, said the initiative would encourage Australians to fuel up with bananas and get active.
“As a banana grower, it’s fantastic to see Aussies turning our fruit into both their ticket to the gym and their go-to workout snack this National Banana Day. The Banana Gym Pass is all about helping people stay active and fuelled, and we’re proud that bananas – packed with the nutrients your body needs – can power workouts right across the country,” said Buchanan.
