China’s 'Silk Belt and Road Initiative' is looking closer to partnership with Thailand after China’s political advisor Yu Zhengsheng spent four days visiting officials in Thailand.

The chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met with Thai government officials and royalty, including Thai prime ministerPrayut Chan-o-cha to discuss boosting cooperation on transport infrastructure, trade and law enforcement.

Yu told Chinese state media Xinhua that China is looking to work with Thailand to develop transport infrastructure, agricultural trade and bilateral security and law enforcement, as well as cooperate on developing science, technology, education and tourism.

Yu’s visit to Thailand coincided with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, with China continuing to be Thailand's largest trading partner.
