Maersk Line’s subsidiary, MCC Transport, commenced the first port call at Haiphong International Container Terminal (HICT) in North Vietnam late last month.
It will now officially add HICT to its weekly NV4, SE1, and SE2 services to boost trade between Vietnam, China and Southeast Asia.
HICT is the first deep-sea port in North Vietnam with a deep draft of 14 meters, allowing large container vessels to call directly. It’s the first terminal in the region to have a deep draft feature.
“We strongly believe in the future growth of North Vietnam. By calling HICT with 3 weekly services, we can offer our customers the widest coverage from the start which is expected to provide them more opportunities for business all over the world,' said Naresh Potty, chief commercial officer of MCC Transport.
MCC said in a press release that the development will not only boost economic growth in the northern Vietnam but also open business opportunities to and from the rest of Asia.
Earlier this year, APL unveiled a new service through emerging regions in central Vietnam, aimed at enhancing the company presence in the country.
The aforementioned services will call at the following ports:
NV4: Yantian – Hongkong – Lach Huyen HICT – Hai Phong
SE2: Tanjung Pelepas – Singapore – Lach Huyen HICT – Hai Phong
SE1: Sihanoukville – Laem Chabang – Singapore – Lach Huyen HICT – Hai Phong
