Port International Be Climate neutral into the future

German fresh produce importer Port International has produced a short film illustrating how life has changed, in some cases, dramatically, for the company since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.

The video, which can be seen below, explains how the company has managed to maintain its sustainable and climate-neutral approach to sourcing and supply despite the pandemic.

“The current situation is complex and, in addition to the well-known corona rules, has presented us all with new challenges such as increased logistics costs and various restrictions, bottlenecks, and delays along the supply chain,” the group said in a statement accompanying the video.

“At Port International, however, we do our best and constantly find new solutions to ensure quality and product availability. Our employees, whether in the office or at home, keep in contact with our partners worldwide, which works very well.”

The company is keen to continue its recent work to protect the environment.

“We do not only care about the health of our employees, the health of the environment is of great concern to us, too,” it said. “The current corona situation shows that we can actively influence climate change and that eduction measures are more important than ever. Unusual weather extremes not only affect our business and have an impact on our products, but also lead to customers rethinking the whole situation.”

Port recently launched Be Climate, the first climate-neutral brand for fresh fruit and vegetables. “We want to continue to move ahead and set an example,” it added. “An example of a conscious and sustainable approach to food and our environment, Be Climate offers consumers an uncomplicated method to actively support climate protection.”
