In partnership with BioUganda, organic specialist Pro Natura has added Queen Victoria organic pineapple from Uganda to its portfolio.

The fruit is produced by small-scale farmers to whom the Pro Natura production programme offers better working and living conditions. The products are certified by Switzerland’s organic certification body IMO CH.

BioUganda has taken the organic farming route because of the food-safety and environmental safeguards it believes it offers. The fruit is grown by more than 500 small-scale producers grouped together by BioUganda and has allowed them to increase their income by at least 30 per cent.

Queen Victoria pineapple is packaged in six-piece cases. Apart from pineapple, BioUganda also offers organic passionfruit and ginger.

French company Pro Natura was founded in 1987 and has become a significant player in the sector as a specialist in organic imports. It sources from five continents.
