The Pakistan High Commission’s two-week promotion of Pakistani mangoes at Harrods Food Hall has been extended to three weeks due to consumer demand.

The high-end Knightsbridge store sold 45kg of Pakistani fruit on one of the first days of the promotion, compared to its usual eight to 10kg a day. The promotion is part of the Pakistan High Commission’s ongoing campaign to increase sales of the country’s exotic fruits and aims to attract the major multiples in the UK.

Trade development officer for the high commission, Adil Mukhtar, said: “We already have a huge market here in the UK and last year exported 16 million kilos of mangoes to the market, but this is mainly to the Asian community. The missing link is the UK multiples.
