Florette has upped its turnover,but suffered a drop in profit.

TheStaffordshire-based salad specialistraised turnover from £53.4 millionto £56.1m for the year ending 31December 2013, but pre-tax profitfell from £4.8m to £4.1m.

Thefirm, whose long-term objectiveis to double market share in theleafy salads sector by 2020, said itexperienced sales growth “aheadof the market” in the most recentfinancial year, but noted global cropshortages in the spring hit profit.

Florette - one of the most recognised fresh produce brands among consumers - employed 422 people during the 2013 financial year.
