The fresh produce sector has a new recruitment specialist in the shape of Fresh Talent Recruitment.

Set up by Sydoni Mackie, the business is targeting the top end of the trade recruiting from graduate to directorship level both in the UK and internationally as this is where Mackie already has a wealth of experience, having started her career in 2008 working for Redfox.

Fresh Talent Recruitment is based in the Farmers Club Building in Bury St Edmunds. Mackie said: “I had a fantastic grounding and through the knowledge and mentoring from my manager David Macaulay, I realised why fresh produce was such a great sector to work in.”

The new business will focus on a breadth of roles in produce and the wider agriculture sector, from sales and marketing to operations, quality, agronomy, procurement, finance and logistics.

Mackie said: “After several years of wanting to set up on my own, I decided that now was the time. It gives me the chance to run a recruitment company the way I want it to be run and in a sector I am passionate about.

'Recruiting in this sector comes with its challenges. I take the time to understand a business thoroughly, its culture, vision and strategy and to really get to grips with whom they are looking to recruit. Likewise when it comes to speaking with candidates it is important to take the time to understand what their motivations are for their next role. It is not about quick wins for me.”
