Move strengthens the postharvest specialist’s international expansion strategy in the region
Postharvest specialist Citrosol has consolidated its presence in Latin America with the opening of its new subsidiary, Citrosol Uruguay. This new entity is the result of the integration of Fomesa and Brillocera Sudamericana under a single brand. Brillocera was itself a joint venture between Fomesa and Enzur.

Jorge Breto, CEO of Citrosol, commented: “The creation of Citrosol Uruguay represents a strategic step to be closer to our customers, offering them specialised technical service and innovative solutions tailored to their needs. Furthermore, this new headquarters will allow us to improve service to nearby markets such as Brazil and Argentina”.
With its own technical service department that directly supports packing plants, the subsidiary strengthens Citrosol’s ties with the sector and enables it to improve its responsiveness and after-sales support.
Building on this foundation, Citrosol Uruguay is also establishing itself as a platform for introducing new postharvest technologies and advanced control systems, which will help Uruguayan exporters reach markets with reduced losses and superior quality.
Citrosol said many of these solutions are already being successfully implemented in Chile and Peru, and are now being made available to the Uruguayan market. They include tools for monitoring waxing and fungicide dosage, designed to optimise efficiency and provide technical follow-up for treatments.
Gerónimo Fernández will have technical and commercial responsibility for the new entity, offering direct support to clients and guiding business development in the region. “From Citrosol Uruguay, we will be able to be much closer to our clients, understanding their challenges and offering them specialized technical service, as well as close monitoring of their post-harvest treatments,” he said.
Through this new phase in Uruguay, Citrosol said it reaffirms its commitment to the development of the fruit and vegetable sector in the region, promoting innovation and service as pillars of its international growth.
