German actress Esther Schweins has appeared on a high-profile television show in the country to espouse the benefits of Spanish-grown fruits and vegetables, as one of the first actions in Spain’s three-year ‘We Care, You Enjoy!’ campaign.
The celebrity, well known in Germany for highlighting organic products, participated in WDR’s Kölner Treff TV Show to speak about her role in the ambitious project, as well as a recent visit to meet growers in Almería and Murcia.
During the appearance, Schweins explained the production methods used by Spanish growers in the regions, as well as their work in ensuring the quality and safety of their products.
She said: “When I traveled to Almería and Murcia, I understood that in winter, we, as Germans, are not able to achieve sufficient production to cover our needs.
“We have neighbours that are able to supply everything we eat and they are working so we can enjoy fruits and vegetables all year round.”
Schweins’ appearance marked one of the first actions of the three-year ‘We Care, You Enjoy!’ promotional campaign, organised by Andalusian association Hortyfruta and Murcia consortium Proexport, which will run in Germany, Austria and the UK.
