Fresh2Door

At last week's World of Perishables (WOP) exhibition in Dubai, local trader All Freshco unveiled its new Fresh2Door concept for the emirate, including a delivery service and online shopping capability.

The company's new website will enable wholesalers, retailers and consumers to log in, check availability and prices and place their order, including any discount that has been agreed. The produce will then be delivered wherever the company or consumer wants.

The same website offers consumers another separate delivery service, described by general manager Ramzi Mkadmini as a 'mobile shop'. The concept will see three trucks stocked with a wide range of fruit and vegetables travelling around Dubai awaiting orders from consumers.

The produce is neatly displayed on shelves, supermarket-style, and consumers are able to call or email for a truck to come to their home so that they can do their shopping.
According to Mkadmini, the company's aim is to 'make the shopping experience as enjoyable and convenient as possible' for Dubai consumers.

'Online shopping is increasing by around 30-40 per cent a year in Dubai,' he said. 'It is still new, but people are becoming busier and busier in Dubai, so they don't have as much spare time for shopping.'

The mobile shop is set to be launched exclusively in Dubai at the end of December, but Mkadmini sees the possibility of expanding the service in the future.

'We are starting in Dubai, but Abu Dhabi and Sharjah may be the next destinations,' he said. 'And we have received requests from Qatar and also Saudi Arabia, which is a huge market where consumer purchasing power is increasing rapidly. They also eat more fruit and vegetables than in Dubai.'
