Company increases production capacity by 30 per cent as it reaffirms commitment to ‘Honest Agriculture’

With the new Spanish citrus season underway, Jobarma has announced the completion of renovation work at its 14,000m² facility in Castelló de Rugat.
Following an investment of over €2.4mn during the summer months, the company has reinforced its ‘Honest Agriculture’ model and solidified its role as a strategic partner specialising in oranges and mandarins (both with and without leaves).
The company said the investment addresses its commitment to major European and domestic retail chains, allowing it to respond with maximum agility to both private-label demand and the growth of its own proprietary brands.
“Furthermore, in an industrial landscape often characterised by an influx of international capital, this initiative is notable for being backed by 100 per cent domestic capital – reaffirming our commitment to the economic development of rural areas, the creation of local jobs, and the revitalisation of regions affected by depopulation,” the company said.
Cutting-edge technology and AI
As part of the renovation project, Jobarma has installed new grading systems, automated packaging, and state-of-the-art production lines, increasing its packaging capacity by up to 30 per cent and reaching a processing capacity of 50 tonnes per hour –nearly doubling its previous hourly processing volume.
Key technical upgrades include the installation of a new, dedicated line for processing mandarins with leaves, the integration of automated packaging systems, and the introduction of new packaging formats tailored to evolving consumer habits.
On the technological front, Jobarma has implemented the cutting-edge Globalscan G7 Viotec solution – featuring AI-powered Smart Citrus software – developed by its technology partner, MAF Roda. This system uses optical and biotechnological analysis to evaluate each piece of fruit, ensuring greater precision in selection based on internal quality, colour, morphology, and flavour.
Commitment to the local region and year-round service
Through this initiative, Jobarma explained that its value proposition now includes: increased capacity to ensure consistent, year-round supply for major retail chains; specialisation in private labels and proprietary brands; a dedicated line for mandarins with leaves; superior selection quality; customised formats and packaging and a positive impact on the local economy.
“We are kicking off the season – following months of renovations – with the certainty that our produce will deliver exceptional quality to the consumer’s table,” said Pepe Malonda, CEO of Jobarma.
“This €2.4mn investment represents a firm commitment to ‘Honest Agriculture,’ backed by domestic capital and rooted in our local region. By leveraging top-tier technology and the dedication of our entire team, we have solidified our position as the trusted B2B partner that retailers need for citrus products.”
