Kenyan producer Kakuzi says its nomination in four categories at the 2025 Kenya Avocado Excellence Awards reinforces its position as a “diversified and vertically integrated business”
Kenya’s Kakuzi has emerged as a frontrunner in the 2025 Kenya Avocado Excellence Awards (KAEA), held this week in Nairobi, with the producer receiving four nominations.
An initiative of the Avocado Society of Kenya, the awards recognise individuals and organisations that continue to make outstanding contributions in the avocado value chain.

Kakuzi, one of the largest producers of avocados for local and international markets, is up for an award in four categories: large-scale orchards over 100 acres, nursery and seedling growers, large-scale exporters with over 200 containers, and auxiliary services for its packhouse.
Kakuzi has 963ha under certified avocado production and runs one of the largest outgrowers’ schemes, providing free avocado maturity-testing services. According to the company, the nominations serve to “reinforce its position as a diversified and vertically integrated business”.
Managing director Chris Flowers commented: “This recognition belongs to our exceptional teams for their collective efforts to position Kenya as a globally competitive producer of avocados. We will continue collaborating and empowering smallholder avocado farmers through technical training and capacity building to enable market access.”
According to Kakuzi, the company is set to launch its 2024 sustainability report, showcasing its environmental, social and governance performance, as well as its commitment to sustainable practices.
