The 6.8 tonne guacamole was prepared during the state’s 2026 Avocado Fair

Tancítaro, Michoacán, reclaimed its title as the Avocado Capital by breaking the Guinness world record for producing the biggest guacamole in the world, weighing in at a massive 6.8 tonnes.
The feat was accomplished during the 13th annual Avocado Festival, which took place last week. More than 800 volunteers participated in preparing the dish, in a session that lasted approximately two and a half hours.
During the process, attendees could observe the weight of the guacamole in real time on screens installed at the venue. The total weight, including the container, was recorded at 7.235 tonnes; however, the official figure validated for the record was 6.8 tonnes.
The initial goal was to exceed five tons of guacamole, but the final result far surpassed the target set by the organisers. With this feta, Tancítaro regained its world record, which had previously been set by the municipality of Peribán with a 4,972 kil4.972-tonne guacamole in 2022.
The record highlights Michoacán’s status as a global leader in avocado production and export. The Tancítaro Avocado Fair is one of the most important events in the region, as it promotes the municipality’s economic, tourism, and cultural activity.
For four days, visitors can enjoy gastronomic, cultural, and musical activities, as well as learn more about avocado production, considered one of the main economic drivers of the state of Michoacán.
