Peruvian table grapes are on course to hit a record 760,000 tonnes worth US$1.9bn in 2025 according to figures from the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri).

The main destinations continue to be the US (35 per cent), the Netherlands (15 per cent), Mexico (10 per cent), China (8 per cent), the UK (6per cent), and Canada (5 per cent).

Peru’s table grape output has grown by 82.5 per cent over the last decade. In 2024/25 it became the world’s leading exporter, shipping around 562,000 tonnes to more than 40 markets.

The uptake of popular seedless varieties like Sweet Globe, Arra 15 and Crimson Seedless has fuelled its international expansion, while the opening of the port of Chancay and the start of direct routes to Chinese ports allow for reduced transit times and costs to Asia, crucial for fresh fruit during peak demand periods.

Going forward, Midagri said the challenge will be to maintain consistent sizing and condition within an increasingly demanding varietal basket, while further diversifying export destinations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East and achieving greater logistical efficiency.
