New packaging concept matches pack designs to the colour of the fruit’s flesh
Seville-based Royal is reporting a good start to its stonefruit campaign after kicking off the 2025 harvest with its first early peaches and nectarines in April. Harvesting of its Royal Sanguine red-fleshed nectarine will soon get underway, along with its Metis and Pluot hybrids.
Despite the poor weather, which delayed the start for a few days, the company said it has managed to deliver the volume, size, and meet the standards demanded by the market.
This year, Royal is debuting what it claims to be the first stonefruit packaging on the market that differentiates the colours of the fruit’s flesh: yellow for nectarines and yellow-fleshed peaches, beige for white-fleshed fruits, and deep red for the Royal Sanguine variety.
“This not only enhances the brand image but also visually helps consumers identify their favourite fruits. This change is accompanied by an emphasis on sustainability in its packaging, which, in addition to being 100 per cent recyclable, uses biodegradable paper and cardboard,” the company said.
CEO Pascal Boutin commented: “We want to bring the light of the Sevillian sun and the colour of our fruits to shelves around the world. This is a commitment to the differentiation and value of our products that facilitate recognition of our brand and, above all, allow consumers to easily identify the fruit they want”.
To this end, the company has designed a strategic visual framework based on the classic values The new design will feature on wooden and cardboard boxes, paper fruit stickers and paper labels… all made from compostable, natural, and 100 per cent recyclable materials.
