ACVJ, the Valle del Jerte Cooperative Group is looking ahead to a positive 2026 cherry campaign, with promising forecasts for both production volume and fruit quality.

With the first fruit picked, the company said weather conditions during the winter and spring have generally been favourable for cherry cultivation. The winter provided ample chill hours, and spring unfolded without any major weather events, resulting in good flowering and proper fruit development in the orchards.

Forecasts point to a production volume of between 16,000 and 20,000 tonnes.

ACVJ is made up of 15 cooperatives and around 2,500 farmers. It markets cherries both domestically and exports to various European countries.

This season, it will carry out planned promotional activities in Spain, Sweden, Denmark, and the UK to boost cherry consumption in key markets.

The start of the harvest marks the beginning of the busiest weeks in the Jerte Valley, where the cherry season is a major economic driver for the region, generating employment and activity in cooperatives, warehouses, and farms.

ACVJ said it is “approaching the start of the season with positive prospects and the goal of bringing the highest quality cherries to market”.
