25 small businesses a year to win a Brakes contract and mentoring under new Get Set Supply! scheme to help new entrants access foodservice sector
Foodservice supplier Brakes has launched a new mentoring programme and contract scheme for small suppliers looking to enter the wholesale market.
Applications are now open to the initiative, called ‘Get Set Supply!’, which will see each selected supplier mentored by a senior member of the Brakes team or an established supplier, in addition to a contract programme to supply Brakes.
Following an online application, 12 shortlisted companies will be invited to a quarterly innovation session attended by customers and key procurement contacts.
Successful suppliers will then be selected for a product listing, and will be supported with sales presentations, sampling and promotion, as well as merchandising.
“It can sometimes be daunting for small suppliers to try to get into large businesses and, once there, to be successful,” said CEO of Brakes owner, Sysco GB, Paul Nieduszynski.
“We want to demystify the process and provide support for around 25 new suppliers every year, giving them the opportunity to start supplying Britain’s foodservice market in a sustainable way that can grow with their business,” he said.
“Our programme will be a real incubator for talent and, as part of the world’s leading foodservice wholesaler, who knows where it will take them.”
Applications for the first wave of Get Set Supply! nominees are now open, with more information available at the Brakes website.
