New production at Bury St Edmunds site responds to rising customer demand for organic mushrooms
Walsh Mushrooms will start growing organic mushrooms at its Suffolk site in October 2026, thereby strengthening its organic supply to retail and foodservice customers.
The producer said the expansion at its farm in Bury St Edmunds farm responds to rising customer demand and boosts its British organic supply.
Walsh Mushooms also explained that by bringing organic mushroom growing in-house, it will take full control of its production, thereby supporting consistent quality and availability.
The first organic compost will be filled on the 17 September, with production set to come on stream from 5 October.
“The move will also provide a strong platform for continued growth, enabling the company to expand organic sales and respond more effectively to opportunities across the market,” Walsh Mushrooms said.
Walsh Mushrooms is one of the largest suppliers of fresh mushrooms and substrate in the UK and Ireland.
Alongside its Suffolk site, Walsh Mushrooms has growing and packing operations in Evesham and Co. Tipperary in Ireland, as well as a head office and substrate manufacturing facility in Co. Wexford.
