Launch event in export market highlights the 72-hours journey from orchard to plate for Australian cherries
Cherry Growers Australia (CGA), in collaboration with Austrade, kicked off the 2024/25 Australian cherry season with an exclusive launch event in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The gathering brought together prominent local partners, importers, retailers, and food industry professionals, celebrating the strong collaboration that drives Australian cherries’ success in Vietnam.
The event provided an opportunity for participants to engage in detailed discussions about cherry industry trends, market growth opportunities, and to build stronger relationships in the Vietnamese market.
The event also featured an interactive culinary showcase, where a renowned chef demonstrated creative cherry-inspired dishes, allowing attendees to experience the fruit’s versatility and exceptional quality firsthand.

CGA said Australian cherries are globally recognised for their premium quality and are cultivated under some of the world’s strictest food safety and environmental standards.
It emphasised that the industry only selects the finest fruit for export, ensuring consumers receive cherries at the peak of freshness. Australian exporters can also airfreight their fruit from the orchard to the consumer within just 72 hours of harvest.
The 2024/25 season outlook across Australia is positive, with growers reporting a medium crop load that supports both good availability and larger fruit sizes. Cooler weather has placed the season slightly behind last year, resulting in gradual ripening and excellent eating quality.
Available from late October to late February, Australian cherry exporters target key festive events, offering fruit for Christmas, New Year, Lunar New Year and Tet celebrations.

With over 18,000 tonnes harvested, packed, and exported worldwide, Asia, including Vietnam, remains one of the most valued markets.
“Vietnam is a key market for Australian cherries. We know that Vietnamese consumers appreciate the premium quality, high standards, and freshness of Australian cherries,” said Penny Measham, CEO of Cherry Growers Australia.
“We look forward to even more consumers enjoying delicious Australian cherries in the lead-up to the Tet holidays.”
