Crunch Pak Flavorz range

Crunch Pak will launch a new sliced apple product called Flavorz across the US in August in time for the back-to-school period.

The range comprises apples which have been treated with a natural flavouring, resulting in another fruit flavour.

According to a press release from the company, the Flavorz line will debut at next month’s United Fresh 2012 exhibition in Dallas, Texas.

The Flavorz line was tested with focus groups of children aged four to eight, who helped narrow the list of potential flavours to peach/mango, grape and strawberry vanilla cream.

“Kids have very different palates than adults, and kids love these flavors – especially the strawberry vanilla,” said Tony Freytag, senior vice-president of sales and marketing.

“We are excited by the initial response and hope it encourages children to eat more fresh fruit.”

According to Crunch Pak, the natural flavouring applied to the apples is applied post-slice during the packaging process and does not change the look or texture of the apple slice.

Crunch Pak is also expanding its Foodles line and will debut the new items at the United Fresh 2012 trade show.

The range will feature new labels and a new mix of healthy snack food options including apples with granola and yogurt and carrots with assorted sides.

“Our research and development department is constantly working on new product and package innovation to meet the needs of health conscious consumers of all ages,” Freytag said.

“We strive to capture a major consumer trend toward healthful eating by paying special attention to quality and packaging.”
