Multivac fresh-cut

Leading packaging solutions provider Multivac has described its visit to this year’s Freshconex trade event in Berlin, Germany, as having been a “great success”, with a high level of interest having been received in its ‘Anna’s Best’ brand.

In a statement, the Germany-based company said its FreshSafe concept, which keeps fruit and vegetables fresh for longer than open packaging and was developed in association with retailers and producers, drew visitors to its exhibition stand.

The tray packaging solution was developed for the convenience sector and is produced on the Multivac T 700 traysealer.

According to the company, the concept, which was presented with the Swiss Star Award last autumn, combines practical design features with the latest in hygiene standards, which are becoming increasingly important in the sector. The finished product is sold in Switzerland by the Migros supermarket chain under the ‘Anna's Best’ label.

Multivac said the original idea for the pack design came from Swiss fresh-cut supplier Josef Müller Gemüse, a member of the pan-European Florette Group, which processes and packages fresh fruit as well as salads and vegetables. Also involved in developing the packaging were Migros, Bachmann Forming and Multivac Switzerland.

“Our visit to Freshconex in Berlin was a great success,” added Valeska Haux, head of marketing at Multivac.
