Dole Food Company has revealed that its Dale Foundation, which is responsible for social responsibility initiatives in both Ecuador and Peru, has been presented with the Segundo Wong Award for 'outstanding work in pursuit of the community's goals'.

The award was handed out at the International Banana Forum on 28 May, hosted by the Ecuadorian Banana Exporters Association (AEBE) in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

'We are honoured to receive this prestigious award,' said Sylvain Cuperlier, Dole's vice-president of corporate responsibility and sustainability. 'From building schools to implementing medical records and HIV/AIDS prevention programmes, Dole and the Dale Foundation do so much good work in the region. We hope that this inspirational relationship continues for years to come.'

Dole first launched the Dale Foundation in 2001, and as since been successful in many efforts, such as running 22 health clinics, vaccination campaigns and nutrition lectures that benefit some 12.500 families in Ecuador and Peru.
