India’s largest container train service provider Container Corporation of India (Concor) has announced plans to invest in a new cold storage centrein New Deli, according to the Hindu Business Line.
The facility will be located within the city’s Azadpur Mandi wholesale market, and will handle up to 60 tonnes of fresh apples and bananas a day. It will be fitted out with ripening chambers, cold storage chambers and banana washing tanks.
The facility will become an important hub for Concor’s subsidiary Fresh and Healthy Enterprises, a cool chain logistics firm that handles apples, kinnow and grapes produced in Himachal Pradesh. The centre will be operational between the months of March and December each year once it is completed.
