The Australian Mango Industry Association has announced the appointment of Greg McMahon as its new chairman.
McMahon was elected at the peak industry body’s annual general meeting held in Mutchilba (Mareeba) last week. He replaces outgoing chairman Gavin Scurr, who has held the position for four years.
McMahon is co-owner of Seven Fields, a mango and citrus producer in the Northern Territory and Sunraysia, Victoria. He has been involved in horticultural production for a large portion of his professional career and brings to the role extensive experience in production and marketing. He was appointed to AMIA as a Director in 2015, representing the interests of growers in Southern Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria.
In accepting his new position, McMahon thanked Scurr for his commitment and dedication to the industry, not only in his work as chairman but also as an AMIA director for the past seven years. Scurr will remain on the board for another three years as director, representing the Northern Territory and northern Western Australia.
Ben Martin has been re-elected as AMIA’s deputy chairman and remains as a director representing Far North Queensland and North Queensland.
