Iranian-grown kiwifruit will help drive category growth in India, according to IG International. The Mumbai-based importer/exporter has received its first consignment of Hayward kiwifruit from the Middle Eastern nation.
IG International director Tarun Arora said Iran’s geographical proximity to the Indian market made it an attractive supply option for the company’s rapidly expanding kiwifruit programme. Iranian fruit can arrive in the Indian market within five days, far quicker than other supply hubs in Italy, Chile and Greece.
“Packed in 10kg cartons, this Hayward variety excels in terms of both look and quality, and will be packed and distributed under Aura kiwi brand,” IG International said in a press release.
