Sweeki kiwifruit

The first Chilean Sweeki kiwifruit volumes of the season arrived in Asia last week after a successful Italian Sweeki campaign, during which over 2,000 tonnes were exported.

Origine Group, which produces and markets the Sweeki brand of kiwifruit, said it expects to double its Chilean volumes to Asia this season thanks to Chilean growers David del Curto and Copefrut.

This volume growth will help Origine Group consolidate its presence in Asian markets, it said, and will mean its clients in Asia can offer the Sweeki brand year-round.

“After having marketed more than 2,000 tonnes of Italian kiwis on foreign markets, shipments from Chile are proceeding regularly.” said Alessandro Zampagna, managing director of Origine Group.

“The first containers reached China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Taiwan. Our programme consists of regular shipments for the next months, in order to cover the whole season on these markets and to continue the promotional activities with our commercial partners.

'Our strategy is to grow gradually, consolidating our presence on the Asian markets and maintaining a high quality level,” he added.

The Chilean arrivals were of the high quality expected of the brand, Origine Group added.

Origine Group, founded in 2015, comprises Italian growers Apofruit, Frutta C2, Gran Frutta Zani, Kiwi Uno, Minguzzi, Salvi-Unacoa, Spreafico and the Chilean producers David Del Curto and Copefrut.
